About St. Vincent & the Grenadines

St. Vincent island
"A world-class financial jurisdiction in the heart of the Caribbean."

A sovereign island nation with a world-class financial services sector.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is a sovereign island country in the Eastern Caribbean, comprising the main island of St. Vincent and a chain of smaller islands known as the Grenadines. SVG gained independence from the United Kingdom on October 27, 1979 and is a member of the Commonwealth of Nations, CARICOM, and the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

SVG has developed a robust and well-regulated international financial services sector, governed by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). The jurisdiction offers a competitive and flexible environment for international business companies, trusts, foundations, banks, insurance companies, and mutual funds.

The legal system is based on English common law, making it familiar and accessible to clients from common law jurisdictions worldwide. The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court serves as the appellate court, with final appeals to the Privy Council in London.

SVG Business Companies (BCs) are tax-neutral — they are not subject to income tax, capital gains tax, withholding tax, or inheritance tax in SVG, provided they do not conduct business with SVG residents. The jurisdiction has strong privacy protections and a confidential company register.

SVG is also a major maritime jurisdiction, ranked 11th globally for flags of convenience. The SVG Maritime Administration oversees vessel registration and provides fast, cost-effective services for commercial vessels and private yachts.
